Funds Development Director
The National Grange Foundation Organization is currently accepting applications for a passionate, dynamic, and experienced Fund Development Director. This individual will expand current activities to new levels and develop strategies for increasing the organization’s revenue generation in an efficient, sustainable, and reliable manner. This individual will lead and provide comprehensive donor, grant and sponsor relations designed to help enhance our mission to “support youth development, promote agriculture education and research, improve communities and foster culture, heritage, citizenship, and charitable activities”.
Grange Foundation is the 501(c)3 charitable arm of the National Grange organized in 1867, whose Mission is to strengthen individuals, families and communities through grassroots action, service, education, advocacy and agriculture”. Grange Foundation seeks to improve its 1,700 local communities by its commitment to the development of the potential in families, youth, and adults of all ages through dynamic programs and experiences that educate, engage, and enrich lives.
At the state and national level, the Grange is flexible, well governed, proactive partner in support of issues that are relevant to members and the communities in which they live. We continue our 154-year-old tradition of welcoming all to our membership, building an inclusive family fraternity and providing our communities with a place for civil discussion and proactive, positive change.

Our Grange founders provided us a Declaration of Purposes for our organization that addressed a need for unity and civil dialog: “We shall constantly strive to secure harmony, good will, and brotherhood… We shall earnestly endeavor to suppress personal, local, sectional, and national prejudices… We desire a proper equality, and fairness; protection for the weak; restraint upon the strong; in short, justly distributed power.” These words still guide us today
Reporting to and in collaboration with the Executive Director [Betsy]or the Board Chair [Joan)]and Fund Development Committee, this individual will lead efforts to solicit funds from individuals, corporate sponsors, grants, private foundations, and government to support the operations of the Grange Foundation Organization. Fund development should include mission aligned partnerships as well as program specific sponsorships.
Job Responsibilities Essential Functions:
- Establish and manage a portfolio/database of annual sponsors and sponsorships.
- Develop sponsor relationships and agreements to support at least $25,000 by the National Grange annual conference to be held in Wichita, KS in November 2021,and various future locations.
- Develop prospective sponsors, donors, grant, new partnerships that appeal to a wide array of budgets.
- Develop sponsor relationships as outlined by the organization’s Gift Acceptance Policy. [to be developed]
- Maintain up-to-date records of donor outreach to serve as a monthly report and be tracked in a donor database management system.
- Work with the Executive Director or Chair, Fund Development Committee, to create a comprehensive list of approved sponsorable opportunities for the organization and for the conference.
- Serve as a conduit of communication between sponsors and conference planning committee to ensure sponsors are adequately recognized at the conference with signage, in the program book, and with other benefits as defined by sponsor benefit per the Sponsorship Levels and Visibility Plan.
Qualifications/Know-How The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
- Bachelor’s degree in fund development, agriculture, political science,or related field.
- Fundraising experience is highly desirable.
- Background or experience in agriculture is preferred.
- Excellent decision-making, time management and project management skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Proven business acumen and financial management skills.
- Proven organizational and analytical skills. 8. Travel required up to 15%, including occasional overnight.
