MISSION STATEMENT
The Grange Foundation supports youth development, promotes agriculture education and research, improves communities, and fosters culture, heritage, citizenship and charitable activities.
The Grange Foundation was formed in 1964 to aid in furthering the ability of the National Grange to provide opportunities to our next generation of leaders and instill agricultural interest/rural issues/and community service issues and career opportunity and community service as a way of life. Today, the Grange Foundation manages several Dedicated Funds: one for Deaf Awareness, one supports the Oliver B. Kelley (Grange Founder) Farm in Elk River, Minnesota, an American Arts & Culture Fund, Youth Leadership Fund, Junior Leadership Development Fund, Community & Leadership Fund. The Youth (ages 15-35) and Junior (ages 5-14) funds are essential in providing opportunities to young Grangers to learn, travel to training conferences and represent the Grange all around the United States. Earmark funds are our Trademark Protection, Headquarters Building Fund, Communications Fellows Program, Youth Exchange Program.
From the beginning Grange included young adults in its ranks on an equal basis with their parents, grandparents & great-grandparents. The Junior Grange was adopted as a division of the organization in 1888. Junior Grange programs are designed to provide opportunities for young members to take on leadership roles as they learn about parliamentary procedure and public speaking. They learn to serve on committee, perform community service and have fun at the same time. As a sub-unit of Community Granges, they learn by doing though running organized meetings, planning and executing events and financial management. The Grange Youth program continues the personal development began in the Junior Grange. Grange Youth can assume leadership roles from the community to national level.
